The Killdeer is said to be widespread and common, but few of them make a habit of visiting Cesar Chavez Park and its surroundings. They eat all kinds of insects, larvae, crayfish, snails, and the occasional seed. They breed in summer in Canada and in the northern midwest of the U.S. For more, see the Audubon website.
