An Organized Bird Walk

The Audubon bird walk that  Emilie Strauss led this morning covered familiar ground and waters but uncovered a number of new-to-me birds. Some, like the Ring-billed Gull and the Mew Gull, were birds I’d doubtless seen before many times but didn’t recognize as a distinct species.  Others, like the Avocet, the Curlew, and the Yellowlegs, were birds I’d seen other places but not here. The Whimbrel was new to me, as was the Northern Shoveler.  Walking with an expert birder like Strauss helped open my eyes.
