Another sign of Spring

This aster-like flower is one of a handful that’s blooming now along the North Basin, a few steps from the perimeter path on the east side of the park (see the Scaups in the background).  Thank you to whoever planted the seeds, probably years ago.  There’s a lot of similar yellow flowers in the sunflower and daisy families, so I’m making a guess that this is the golden marguerite, also known as yellow chamomile or oxeye chamomile, Cota tinctoria.  This one isn’t good to eat but makes an excellent yellow dye that has been used on fabrics.  P1030689 (Custom)P1030685 (Custom)
