Black Oystercatchers Meet and Greet

P1040491 (Small) Black Oystercatchers are not a rare sight in the North Basin.  Still, seeing and hearing five of them get together in a brief meet-and-greet, Oystercatcher fashion, was an experience worth preserving.  (A lone Willet kept them company for a while.) The Audubon website says that the birds pair up for life, and are sometimes seen in large flocks.  If there’s five of them here (and probably more) during the summer, chances are that they’re breeding.  That’s certainly good news!
