Common elsewhere – rare here

California poppies are about as common as weeds in many parts of the state, but they’re strangely rare in Cesar Chavez Park.  There’s a cluster of them around the sign in the southeast corner, but this plant along the perimeter trail on the far northern side has about 89 acres all to itself.  Somehow the good folks who put the park together forgot a thing or two, like (a) planting wildflowers and (b) putting in bathrooms.  So, there’s work for us to do.
