Golden-Crowned Sparrow

The Golden-crowned sparrow is a common bird, but few of them favor the photographer with a formal close-up portrait in sunlight on top of a bush, as did this individual.  I’ve noticed it time after time, when birds don’t want to be photographed, they have an uncanny sense that tells them just when your camera is coming into focus, and just before you have a sharp image, off they go.  But when they want their pictures taken, they’ll hold steady and fearless, turning this way and that (“This is my good side, don’t you think?”) until you’ve got your fill.
