Sparrow with Golden Crown

Golden-crowned Sparrow
Golden-crowned Sparrow

The Golden-crowned Sparrow wears his head markings more modestly than its White-Crowned cousin, whose flashy stripes make it recognizable at once from a distance.  Apart from that, the birds seem much the same.  Groups of them work the ground and the bushes for seeds and other edibles.  I saw these birds harvesting old seeds from a Rumex Crispus plant, and then nipping on fresh green leaves of some other plant I couldn’t identify.
