This thistle in the marshy area on the west side is host to a variety of little sapsuckers. There’s a spittlebug and what looks like a leafhopper and some medium-size aphid-type bugs and some smaller ones and some tiny ones, and probably some others too small to see. I haven’t any idea what they all are, but I wouldn’t want any of them in my garden. The good news is that ladybugs were on the scene. I counted half a dozen ladybugs on this one thistle. They have their work cut out for them! The thistle’s spiny surfaces make hard going.
