Vandalism Continues at Solar Calendar

solar-calendar-1The Cesar Chavez Memorial Solar Calendar in the park has been repeatedly vandalized.  The first incidents were reported in Berkeleyside this past August.  After a quiet period, new incidents of vandalism occurred this past October.  More recently, vandals stole an informational sign, defaced another display, and displaced more rocks that are part of the monument.

Anyone with information about this vandalism please contact the Berkeley Police Department non-emergency number at (510) 981-5900 or the Anonymous Tip Line at (510) 843-2677.  The City of Berkeley has offered a $1000 reward for information leading to the identification of the perpetrator(s).

If you have ideas for dealing with this situation, please post comments here.

Background information on the solar calendar is posted under the Solar Calendar menu item to the right.
