Winter Solstice Gathering December 21

From Santiago Casal, curator of the Cesar Chavez Memorial Solar Calendar:

Winter Solstice Gathering

The Solar Calendar – César Chávez Memorial

César Chávez Park

RAIN OR SHINE

It may be sunny or it may rain.  What will the weather hold for us?

Dress warmly, the weather is part of the experience.

It is the darkest time of the year (Shortest Day / Longest Night),  and

the darkness is not helped by the looming Presidency.

Wednesday, December 21st

4 pm to 5 pm

Sunset at 4:50 pm

Led by Alan Gould, Lawrence Hall of Science

Mini Workshops on:

– Sun, earth & moon system

– Cultural Celebrations of the season

– Chavez Virtue of “Tolerance”

NOTE:  At the Spring Equinox Gathering (March, 2017)  we will be debuting  a new concept for the gatherings that will shift the focus more to culture – i.e., how and why cultures around the world  honor and celebrate the solstices and equinoxes.  If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see and experience, please let us know.
